Meshuggah, whose name is taken from the Hebrew and Yiddish word for “crazy”, are a five-piece band from Umeå, Sweden, founded in 1987. Their style is most easily described asextreme/technical metalwith somejazzinfluence. They use extended polymetric passages, complex drum patterns, angular, dissonant guitar riffs, and harsh vocals. Awesome lyrics, heavy as shit what more do you need. These are my two favorite albums. Thanks to Eric Liewald for getting me into these guys.
