Heiruspecs

Not many bands lock into their sound in high school or manage to hang together for seven years, but Heiruspecs has and now the young 20-somethings are seasoned vets. With more than 100,000 revolutions on the band’s odometer from a touring schedule that keeps them on the road 150 days a year, Heiruspecs has steadily broken down preconceived notions of live hip-hop by refusing to regurgitate the same old sounds you’ve heard before, and knock you upside the head with their impressive array of funk, soul and hard-hitting beats. And the band doesn’t cop samples to get to where they want to take you, instead opting to deliver it all live, all original. Awesome hip hop, get on this shit now.

He spent his early years in the Brooklyn neighborhood of East New York, where he has been rapping at block parties since the early days of his youth. He first showcased his hardcore Brooklyn style to audiences on “I’m the Man,” a track from Gang Starr’s 1992 album Daily Operation. His first album, The Sun Rises In The East, released in 1994, and produced entirely by DJ Premier, is considered a classic, and was one of the most acclaimed Hip Hop albums of its time. Alias

Alias found no music that captivated him until at age 13 when he saw “Yo MTV Raps.” Alone in his interest in hip hop, alias sought to immerse himself in this foreign counter-culture. He bought The Source monthly at the one shop in Maine that carried it, and by age 14 he was writing his own raps. In ‘98 during the deep puddle dynamics sessions in Minneapolis with Slug, dose and sole, alias realized that music would be his life’s work. Really really good hip hop with some ill beats to go along with Alias's words of wisdom.

BK-One

BK-One’s love of music has been a lifelong affair. From an early age, he studied classical piano and jazz theory, taught himself to play the vibraphone, and began collecting records. In 2009 BK recorded his first solo album, “Rádio Do Canibal” with Benzilla. With music drawn entirely from records collected on a recent visit to Brazil, “Rádio do Canibal” features artists like Black Thought, Scarface, Raekwon, Slug, Murs, The Hypnotic Brass Ensemble, Phonte, The Grouch, and of course Brother Ali. BK’s years of experience in different styles of music shine through on this album, as he collaborates with rappers, jazz musicians, and singers alike. This album is ill, get it.

Abstract, intense and haunting one-off collaboration between three of Anticons founders (Sole, Dose One and Alias) and Slug (of Atmosphere) featuring production/beats from Jel, ANT, Abilities, DJ Mayonnaise, and Moodswing9. Ecid

Ecid, MC/producer is one of those rare artists that can rap, write, & produce in an arguably equal fashion. Ecid is a lyric’s first MC more concerned with making timeless music than songs that bang for the moment. He writes honest, imaginative, visual, story driven songs with an unpredictable style all his own. I just recently found Ecid and quickly fell in love. His music is heart felt and as real as it gets. Don't pass this shit up, if you don't get everything make sure to at least get Red Beretta.

Sage Francis

Noted for his intense flow and sharp wit, Francis has won acclaim both as a freestyle battler and as an unapologetically intellectual lyricist. Francis uses a broad emotional palette to address a wide range of personal, cultural, and political issues. His unconventional style and persona have given him crossover appeal, but at the same time alienated some hip-hop listeners.
